Dear parents and carers,

I am writing to let you know that our pupil attendance is lower than some other special schools in England.

One of the reasons for this is that a high number of pupils are having holidays in term time.

To help us reduce the number of term time holidays, we will refer all unauthorised holidays to the Local Authority for a Fixed Penalty Notice.

This means that if you take your child on holiday without the Head of School’s authorisation, the Local Authority will be notified and you will be issued with a fine.

Headteachers are only allowed to authorise holidays during term time in the most exceptional circumstances. You may request authorisation here.
